Not mixing it…

As you can probably tell by now, most everyone in the blogging community is mixing prints, especially stripes and floral.  I love the trendy combination, but this time around I decided to keep it simple and pair my floral skirt with a bright orange blouse that compliments the many colors in the skirt.  And with no planning at all, you can check out how the lovely Diana from City and Burbs paired this same skirt with a beautiful stripe top for that perfect pattern mixing look.

In LOVE with Yellow...

If you have been following my blog for some time you probably know by now that my favorite color is yellow. I have been slowly but surely incorporating this bright cheery color into my wardrobe for some years now.

I purchased this dress last year at a JCrew warehouse sale and dreamed about the day I’d be wearing it to a special occasion. So when RVA Fashion Week was in full swing and I was invited to the Carytown Fashion Showcase runway show, I quickly knew this dress would finally make its debut. I love the simplicity, silhouette and pockets of the dress. In order to jazz things up, I enlisted the help of Sydney, a fellow RVA blogger, who suggested layering 2 statement necklaces for the perfect fashion forward look.

Back to the ironing board…

Seriously ever since I purchased this Chambray shirt, it has been on constant rotation. I love wearing it to work and on the weekends for an easy pulled together look. So me being the neat freak that I am when it comes to my clothes, once it’s out the washer and hangs dry, it’s quickly back on the ironing board.

Tell me have you fallen for the Chambray trend?

Black & White - Polka Dot & Stripes

I love the black and white trend but decided to kick it up a notch in this outfit by adding some print mixing. I’ve been lusting for a white and black polka dot blouse since pretty much everyone else in the fashion blogging world has one. And I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this beauty at Forever21 for only $20.00 and the best part is that it fits. I’m a fan of the trendy items and prices at Forever21, but unfortunately I’m not a fan of their sizes. For some crazy reason, they’re clothes are meant to fit larger chested ladies and they never carry enough “Large” sizes at their store.

Functional Splurge & RVA Fashion Week

When I saw Kendi from Kendi Everyday sporting this “Pique academy blazer” in coral, I immediately fell in love with the fit.  Even though the yellow color was on clearance and Gap had an additional 30% percent off and free shipping, I was still hesitant about the splurge purchase.  However, after consulting with a few coworkers and my sister, I decided it was too good of a deal to pass up.  I’m typically not a huge fan of ordering online because I like trying things on, but I felt more at peace knowing that I could return it to the store if it didn’t fit.  After a few small setbacks including Gap sending the wrong color blazer and then the correct item not fitting as I’d wished, I was finally able to find the one that fit me like a glove.

I’m glad I never gave up on this jacket even after all the hassle I went through to get the right one.  I know this is a staple item added to my wardrobe that I’ve been able to wear to work and on the weekends.
